Our history |
In far 1880 Angelo Cornali opens
in San Colombano al Lambro a pastryshop and after moving to
Codogno at the beginning of the century he opens a smart coffee
bar-pastryshop at number 71 in Roma Street. Very soon it becomes
a meeting place for the respectable people of the place: the
doctor, the veterinary, the marshal are habitual customers.
But the most faithful is the mayor, a pleasant character as
much distinguished as greedy. |
|
Every day he goes to his friend Angelo to taste his delicious
fancy cakes. To pay homage right to him, Angelo Cornali creates
the “Biscotto Codogno”, a masterpiece of excellence
and genuineness. That biscuit, that would deserve best the
name of fancy cake, is given national and international prizes. |
In the same period the production
of “Cotognata” (cotogno apples jam in cubes) starts
and it is appreciated by the customers. The dynasty of the
Cornali family goes on with the son Mario and the nephew Giuseppe.
Nowadays the sons of this last one, Carlo and Luigi, carry
on with the activity. In the sixties a new pastryshop in Casalpusterlengo
joined the one in Codogno and it also started the production
of “Calissoni”. In 1983 the shop was renovated
and for that occasion, to celebrate the centenary, the “Biscotto
Codogno” filled with chocolate was created.
|
In 1989 Carlo presents the Saint Biagio Cake,
dedicated to the patron saint of Codogno, in a national competition
and is awarded some prizes by a qualified jury. So that prize
has to be added to the countless ones of his predecessors. |
|
The name “Cornali” is
well known also outside the borders Codogno, but nothing has
changed: the style of the shop is the old one exactly like
the love and the passion of Angelo Cornali in making that good
and genuine biscuit.
Well, we can only invite you to taste
our products hoping to have satisfied also the most demanding
palates. |
